Every box begins as a simple pine form. Then, layer by layer, it becomes something more; an object meant to hold stories, milestones, and the quiet treasures people keep close. Inspired by florals, mandalas, and the gentle symmetry found in nature. Each piece is painted by hand in my Holmdel, New Jersey studio. I work slowly, building color, detail, and balance until the box feels alive; ready to become part of someone’s memory.
A Meditative Painting Process
Painting these boxes is not fast. It’s not automated. It’s not mass‑produced. It’s a quiet, meditative process that takes 20–28 hours per box. I sketch, layer, dot, refine, and finish each design until it reaches a sense of calm and completeness. The work is slow, intentional, and deeply personal; an invitation to pause and appreciate the beauty of handcrafted art.
A Life Shaped by Color & Culture
I’m an American artist born in Korea and raised across England and the United States. My multicultural upbringing gave me a love for pattern, ornament, and the way art can express emotion without words. While earning my BFA at Pratt Institute, I discovered a passion for design that stayed with me through three decades in New York’s corporate retail world. Today, those influences; Art Deco geometry, Art Nouveau flow, global color palettes; quietly guide my hand as I paint each box.

Why I Paint Keepsake Boxes
I believe small objects can hold big emotions. A keepsake box becomes a home for letters, jewelry, tokens, and memories; things that deserve a place of beauty and intention.
